We will also explore a variety of drawing media, including pencil, charcoal, and pastel. Students will have the opportunity to draw from observation, as well as from their imaginations.

BASIC OIL PAINTING with JULIE SULZEN

Students will explore the fundamentals of oil painting with an introduction to materials and by practicing skills of observation, methods of drawing, explorations of color theory, and techniques of brushwork. Utilizing carefully designed still life arrangements, fundamentals of painting such as light, shape, value, and edges will be covered. Demonstrations and discussions are designed to encourage individual progress as well as general painting guidance.

Thursday, 10am - 12pm. Advanced Registration Required.

Utilizing a live model, this course will begin with a gesture approach to the figure and will include basic skeletal anatomy to assist in achieving proper proportions of the human form. Longer poses will allow investigation in both line and tone.
