Calls for Artists
Member and non-member artists are invited to submit artwork for display in Oak Park Art League exhibitions. OPAL’s mission is to provide a welcoming space dedicated to “artistic inquiry, creative expression and art appreciation”. Exhibiting your artwork alongside fellow artists creates connections and opportunities to learn from one another and improve their practice.
Exhibitions in the Carriage House Gallery.
Open Call exhibits are open to all, no matter your experience level. There are little to no restrictions or prerequisites for exhibiting. No curatorial process is used to determine if a work of art can be included in the exhibition. If the artwork meets all the Call criteria for that particular exhibition, and is accompanied by the hanging fee, it will be included in the show. Open Call shows may be judged by an invited artist or art professional who selects several works to receive awards.
Juried exhibitions include artworks that are reviewed and evaluated for inclusion in an exhibition, according to the Call requirements or theme, prior to the exhibition. This usually involves artists submitting work via a third party platform such as Submittable.
Member exhibits are open to one artwork per current OPAL Artist Members. Artists are encouraged to join OPAL at this level to receive the most member benefits. Artist Member Exhibitions may be soft juried (one piece selected from 3 by an invited outside juror) or artist selected.
Curatorial exhibits give curators an opportunity to have full control of the gallery. Curators submit proposals, projects are selected by committee and invited guest juror.
Invitational is a group show of artwork submitted by artists in response to a themed open call, set by the OPAL Exhibition Committee. Works selected by the committee and invited guest juror.
