‘It’s a Sign’ installation travels

The Oak Park Art League (OPAL) invited the artistic community to add a sign to our outdoor installation!

In August we partnered with the Gerber/Hart Library Archives in presenting IT’S A SIGN: Queering the Gallery. Alongside select items from the G/H archive and an open call for image and text “protest” genre works, we invited you to create a sign to add to our street-facing outdoor installation bringing attention to diverse voices and the critical choices we all face as voters.
This exhibit ran while the DNC is in Chicago, August 19 to 22, 2024!

For this exhibition, we’re inviting anyone, artists or not, to either pick up a donated yard sign from OPAL or find your own and remake it using collage, text, image or any media to create a brand new personalized yard sign that highlights their own personal values during this important election year.

The signs will be traveling and be part of a Harris/Walz campaign event “Kayaks for Kamala” on Sept 22. Check out the details below.
