Cartooning and animation are powerful modes for speaking truth to power, when protest is captioned in a word bubble and dry humor delivers the punch. In honor of Oak Park artist and prolific political cartoonist Keith J. Taylor, this juried national exhibition comes at a fraught time, an election year, and invites artists working in all forms of cartooning and animation to submit works that speak to this moment in human history.

ANYONE can add their sign to our street-facing installation in front of OPAL throughout August. Come pick up a donated political yard sign and reuse it to create a brand new personalized yard sign that highlights your own personal message during this important election year.
OPAL is honored to host multi-media sculptor and Oak Parker, Bethany Cordero as or next artist in residence, beginning September 2024. You may have seen her sculpture as part of the Oak Park Sculpture Walk in downtown Oak Park, across from the Lake theater.

Founded in 1921, the Oak Park Art League (OPAL) is one of the longest, continually running non-profit arts organizations in Illinois. The Oak Park Art League's mission is to be a welcoming center of artistic inquiry, creative expression and art appreciation in Oak Park and the surrounding communities. Through the offering of dynamic public arts programming and exhibitions, our goal is to engage the beginner to professional artist in creative practices allowing for the refinement of their creative voice.
